Stan and June finally arrived near the beginning (the most Northern) of US Route 1.  They were so tired and hungry, Stan said, "I could eat a bear."

They pulled into their campsite, Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort in Belfast, Maine. and got everything set-up.  Somebody at the last camp told June about using a big rock to hold down the black water hose when they were going to dump it.  That same fella also told Stan that they were dumping it at the wrong end.  Stan just sighed and thought to himself that there's a lot more to these campers than he imagined.

June made up the beds and put together a quick supper and they went instantly to sleep.  All of a sudden, there were crashes and banging around their campsite.  Stan peeked out the window and to his surprise a big bear was rummaging through their site.  This must of been the "Big Bear" Stan said he could eat!

The Arvees were scared out of their minds.  They were racing around the camper trying to find the number for the park ranger, the office, somebody that could help them.  June finally found the number for the ranger.  Well, that wouldn't do them any good whatsoever - they didn't have a cell phone because Stan thought they were a waste of money.

During this frantic search, the Bear must have decided to move on because when June looked outside again, it was gone.  Both she and Stan tried to sleep but just couldn't for the rest of the night.

The first thing June said to Stan when they finally got up was, "I don't care what you say Stanley Arvee, we are going to buy a cell phone today."  So that was that.

Stan made up a campfire outside and June put together a 1- pan breakfast and they cooked it over the campfire.  Stan said, " June, you outdid yourself, this breakfast was scrumptious."  June had to agree.  June told Stan that before they went into town to find a cell phone store, she wanted to finish setting up their campsite.

June had purchased some flags to string up on their awning.  She also brought an indoor/outdoor carpet, her favorite lawn ornaments and a few potted plants.  Even though Stan gave her grief about bringing "all that junk" by the time she was done he was telling her it was just like home.  "I told you these little touches of home would be nice," June said to Stan.

Before they went into town, the wind picked up and began whipping the awning flags to one side and then the other.  June was so disgusted that she took them down and had to endure an "I told you so look from Stan."  "Well, Junie Bug, let's get going to town and get that cell phone and a few provisions"...and away they went.

While driving into town, June and Stan were discussing the results of the American Idol contest. June was extremely ticked off saying to Stan, “I am never going to watch that show again. Adam has more talent in his little finger than Kris could ever hope to have. I know it’s just a bunch of teenage girls who vote and they like the “pop” type music that Kris sings. They also like his simple good looks. It’s not a popularity contest, it’s a singing contest, like Simon says,” she ranted. Stan, trying to be diplomatic said, “I think a lot of older people voted too and probably don’t like the fact that Adam wears an earring and sings heavy rock music.” June protested, “But he can sing all kinds of music with that voice! And what’s the matter with rock music? (June is a “rocker” from way back. Well, they finally agreed to disagree on the Idol outcome.
